PostHeaderIcon Best Laptops at CES 2012

For me and anyone else with an interest in laptops, the dates of January 10-13th 2012 are like Christmas Day all over again, for these are the dates when the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is held in Las Vegas. For laptop manufacturers, this is the place where products and intentions for the coming year will be unveiled, fans can get first glimpse of the latest technology, critics can critique and laptop repair companies get grab some precious information on what will be coming into their shops in the coming months and years.

The big laptop talking point at this years show has been the ultrabook, smaller, thinner and longer lasting laptops that are being held up as the “great white hope” in the fight against tablets. Lenovo has continued to cement their place as more than just a business laptop manufacturer with the new Ideapad S2. The device is a hybrid tablet and laptop which docks into a keyboard (other manufacturers are unveiling similar products). With a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor and 20 hours battery life, I predict this to be a success, but also one that will be prone to potential damage, being separate units (get prepared laptop repair guys).

The final laptop that caught my eye was the new HP Envy 14 Spectre, a Gorilla Glass covered laptop ultrabook that boast a resolution of 1600 x 900 and an i5 or i7 processor. One downside is the proposed price tag of £900+; this might hold it back against cheaper rival, and personal favourite, the MacBook Air.

One thing is for sure, with the standard of technology this good, 2012 is going to be a good year for us laptop enthusiasts.

PostHeaderIcon Sony VAIO Z Series Ahead Of Its Time, Above The Price Limit

Most of Sony VAIO laptops are nothing to write home about. Although computers are very portable, can not be distinguished from many other modern laptops. PostHeaderIcon HP Mini 210-3002sa

Most of the netbooks that you can find on the market these days is not exactly designed for office workers, reaching a range of bright colors that I would be rather strange in the hands of a businessman. While the HP Mini 210-3002sa to live up to this bias, at least in part by becoming a “Luminous Matte Rose” (or, for those of you who do not have Dulux catalog in hand, pink) version, Read the rest of this entry »
